2025 Sport and Physical Activity Network event; Place and Inequalities – Leading Change round up

Our 2025 Sport and Physical Activity Network event; Place and Inequalities – Leading Change,  took place on Thursday 27th November 2025 at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.

The event brought together the professional network across our sector, including people from National Governing Bodies of Sport, Unitary Authorities, Health organisations, Education, Sport and Physical Activity charities and local community organisations.

This year we were honoured to host Jeanette Bain-Burnett from Sport England and Nadia Holland from Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB) as our two Key note speakers. Presentations considered how we need to look at our approach to getting more people physically active and how sport and physical activity can be that golden thread to support our population throughout their life course. Improving their health and wellbeing.

Our afternoon speakers, Toby Hodder from CIMSPA, Samina Baig from Caafi Health and Wesport's Sarah Mcleod, provided more local examples and opportunities to discuss topics such as the local workforce, race equality and inclusion.

The event, that saw 100 attendees, provided opportunities for the delegates to network, both via fun engaging network activities, themed networking tables and also the space just to catch up over a cuppa.

A BIG thank you to all our speakers and network facilitators who made the day possible, as well as the Wesport team and those who attended the day.

Some feedback we have received already includes:

It felt like every part of the sport, activity and wellbeing sector were represented, all with the shared goal of working together with our communities to move more and feel included.’

‘A brilliant chance to learn from others, share ideas and make new connections.’

‘I thoroughly enjoyed it – the content and speakers were relevant and engaging and I enjoyed the opportunity to network with like minded peers.’

The presentations from across the day are now available to view and download along the right hand side of this page.

We would like to gather feedback about the event. This feedback will help us to ensure we keep developing the event and provide an event that is relevant to the network’s needs. In just a few minutes you will be able to help give us valuable feedback that will make a difference to how we do things.

We are also looking at what other opportunities we could provide to the network throughout the year, to compliment the annual conference. Providing feedback is a great opportunity for you to help us create and shape our offer to the network moving forward.
