As part of our Hate Crime Awareness Week launch, we welcomed the newest addition to the #nohatejustsport team...
our Club Champions!
Sarah Mcleod,
our Strategic Lead for Places and Communities at Wesport, said;
"It was a fantastic evening as we welcomed the first meeting of our No Hate, Just Sport Club Champions."
"The energy, expertise and commitment in the room from club volunteers was inspiring. There was a real sense of shared purpose: to protect the values that make sport so powerful. Sport brings people and communities together and breaks down barriers, and sports clubs can be that safe space where everyone can simply be themselves. Our Club Champions will help make that a reality, championing the campaign in their clubs, making their environments safer and more welcoming for all, and shaping the resources and training we provide. At a time when we’re seeing rising levels of hate and discrimination, it feels hugely encouraging to see this network begin to take shape. I’m proud of how this work is progressing and hopeful it will create real change, because by working together, we are stronger in tackling discrimination and hate.”
A huge thank you to everyone who made time to join us for this exciting launch. And a big shout out to Bristol City Robins Foundation for hosting us on match day and Stand Against Racism & Inequality (SARI) for their support.
