Wesport have left social media platform “X”
At Wesport, our mission is to “Establish the conditions for long-term change, enabling more people to be physically active, inclusive of all”.
With the current state of X, it is no longer a platform that aligns with our views of being inclusive and tackling violence against women and girls.
This includes the platform allowing the use of the AI tool “Grok” being used to create harmful, non-consensual images of women and girls. As well as the platforms failures to combat direct racism and other abusive comments.
Together we’ll continue to work on building places and spaces that respect and protect everyone. Below are a selection of resources and materials that we offer or find useful for this topic.
- We have our next online Sport Welfare Talk on 25th March with Dr Jennifer Harris from Raising Happy Champs. They'll be providing practical tools and insights to coaches and sports club volunteers on how we can improve children and young people’s experiences in sport through positive parent engagement. Find out more here!
- The CPSU also have good pages and resources available for the sector on online safety here!
- 1-2-1 support is available through us at Wesport from our Sport Welfare Officer’s for anyone who would like to discuss best practice in online spaces. Find out more about our SWO's here.
- No Hate, Just Sport also has guides available on what to do if you have experienced a hate crime or hate-related incident in sport, including when using social media to engage with clubs, which can be found here!
