An Evening With: Stand Against Racism & Inequality
safeguardingsportwelfareantidiscriminationclubs

Wesport’s second “An Evening With…” event will be shining a spotlight on anti-discrimination on the 2nd April 2025 from 18:30 – 20:00.

Our Sport Welfare Officers, Bryher and Matt, will be joined by Tia Bale from SARI (Stand Against Racism & Inequality). SARI is a charitable organisation based in Bristol that supports victims of hate within the community. They also aim to promote equality and good relations between people with protected characteristics, as defined by law. SARI lead on casework, supporting victims of hate crime. They also work with children, young people and schools, and other education establishments, providing support to pupils facing racist and other hate incidents. SARI also delivers anti-hate, equality, diversity and inclusion, and cultural awareness sessions.

Wesport and SARI are currently working on a pilot project to support sports clubs in Bristol with anti-discrimination, EDI, and hate crime training as well as reporting routes and support in the event of incidents of discrimination and hate. Come along to hear about the work of SARI, understand what you can do to be a more inclusive club, and hear a little more about Wesport and SARI’s upcoming project.

We want to hear about clubs’ and volunteers’ experiences promoting inclusive environments, and we will use this information to shape the direction of our pilot project!

Once again, tickets are expected to sell out fast for this one. This event is online, and FREE to attend. Please share this with sports clubs in the local area and get your tickets before time runs out.
