The Satellite Club programme was a Sport England funded initiative which Wesport delivered locally. Satellite Clubs are local sport and physical activity clubs that are designed around the needs of young people and provide them with positive, enjoyable experiences that make it easy for them to become active or to develop more regular activity habits.
The Satellite Club programme has adapted and changed over the 7 years it was delivered from 2014 - 2021. This moved from clubs traditionally being delivered in Schools as extracurricular activity towards a more community based programme. As the aims for Sport England shifted to ensure this funding reached young people who were inactive we started to work with more community based partners. This saw projects being delivered by partners who supported young people outside of a school setting and in an environment that suited them.
You can view case studies and other programme information in the download section of this page.
